OUR PURPOSE:

The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to  experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expend concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

OUR THEME FOR 2009-2012:

“In God’s Mission We Are Sent Out…!”

(2011) …TO CONNECT                Hebrews 13:20-21

“May the God of Peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus,  the great shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing  to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”

The string connects the kite with the earth. Our mission connects us with the Word of God and with others in mission with us. With our stewardship of self and God’s equipping we can connect understanding and resources with the needs of others.

(2012) …TO CONTINUE

“Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.”  – John 14:19-20
The kite’s tail gives balance to the kite and allows it to continue to fly even as the wind takes it in different directions. As we seek balance in serving God we must continue to prepare and enable others to proclaim the good news of salvation, mercy, and justice in word and deed.

(2009)…TO CREATE

“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” – Psalm 51:10
The cross is the central structure of the kite and is the center of creating a relationship with God through the redeeming love  of Jesus. Creating meanskeeping a fresh perspective and looking with new eyes at programs, needs and resources.

(2010)…TO CARRY

“But you will receive power when the Holy spirit comes on you, and you will be my witness in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” – Acts 1:8
The power of the Holy Spirit carries us up as the wind carries the kite, and, as we seek God’s will and guidance, God’s mission becomes our mission. We are called to communicate, challenge and stretch ourselves for more. Staying the same loses ground.
